How to care for your jewellery
Our Jewellery is made to last, and so it will if you look after it well. Caring for your jewellery at home will keep it looking its best. Below is our advice and how to care for it.
Keep our original boxes and bags as this is the best way to keep your jewellery from dirt and damage. But if not, wrap your jewellery in bits of cloth and tissue keeping them in separate compartments.
You’ll need to be especially careful with pearls as they are softer, so scratch easier than gems and metals. Rubbing simple soap and water with a soft brush works well. You then need to clean your jewellery with a soft lint-free cloth so it won’t leave any threads or fuzz behind.
Saltwater, chlorine in swimming pools, perfumes, personal products and perspiration take their toll on all fine jewellery and can cause oxidisation.
About our materials
Sterling silver jewellery
Silver has been known and valued as a precious metal for hundreds of years. Sterling silver is a 92.5% pure silver content, with a 7.5% copper content. Silver jewellery has always been a favourite amongst customers because of its brilliance, lustre and price.
Gold jewellery
Gold jewellery dates back to around 6,000 years ago. Gold has always been known for its naturally intense colour and distinctive lustre which combined with the other metals creates its unique and lasting beauty. Gold is measured in Carat, which is the measure of pure Gold content: 24 Carat is pure gold, 9ct gold is 37.5% pure, 14ct gold is 58.5% pure and 18ct is 75% pure.
Gold filled
Gold filled is composed of a solid layer of 14 ct gold bonded with heat and pressure to a base metal such as brass. Gold-filled items are 50 to 100,000 times thicker than regular gold plating and 17 to 25,000 times thicker than heavy gold electroplate, and even with daily wear can last up to 30 years.
Gemstones
All Gemstones and diamonds are natural. The opals that we use are all lab-grown ( chemically as the natural opals ) they are not imitations. All Australian opals stated are natural.
